Welcome to Winter Semester 2020!
Oct 14, 2020
Dear students,
We warmly welcome you to the beginning of winter semester 2020/2021 and hope you are all healthy and in good spirits. We especially welcome our “freshmen”. Without a doubt, you will be starting under extraordinary conditions, which we will support with all our efforts to make it easier for you.
The past summer semester demanded a lot from you and your lecturers. Together we always had to adjust to new situations and rules, which required a lot of strength, flexibility and, last but not least, creativity. But together we overcame these major challenges very well.
Let us therefore look to the future, specifically to the 2020/2021 winter semester, both hands-on and confident.
The 2020/2021 winter semester will be largely characterized by digital events, but will also include face-to-face events, as far as the COVID-19 situation allows.
Hygiene concepts were developed for the face-to-face events in order to protect your health and that of your lecturers. You will be informed of these in detail in good time. Depending on the current situation of the infection, it may be that the hygiene measures have to be adapted and this will affect our teaching.
In any case, until further notice, a mouth and nose cover must be worn not only when entering and leaving event rooms, but generally in all traffic and meeting areas in the buildings of the Großhadern campus, especially in hallways, stairwells, elevators and toilets.
Current information on studying and teaching as well as the current hygiene rules and other COVID-19-specific topics can be found at www.uni-muenchen.de/aktuelles/corona_informationen/studium_lehre/index.html and on the pages of our respective courses. These are updated contineously.
We rely on our shared sense of responsibility, consideration, flexibility and the necessary discipline. We are convinced that we can design and master the renewed challenge of minimizing health risks on the one hand and at the same time a successful semester that enables personal exchange.
We look forward to seeing you and wish you a good start into a successful winter semester 2020/2021.
Your dean Angelika Vollmar, your dean of studies Regina de Vivie-Riedle and your dean of studies Franz Paintner
