Exzellenzcluster 114: Munich Center for Integrated Protein Science (CIPSM)

In the CIPSM Cluster of Excellence leading scientists develop a new type of protein research. The focus of interest is the role of proteins that determine as a central biological macromolecules, inter alia, the structure and function of all organisms. For this purpose, research on different levels of complexity is required - from the isolated protein to protein in the living organism. One focus of CIPSM is the study of protein dynamics. Modern techniques help to observe proteins in living cells and different types of tissue, but also in the animal. Different partial areas are about the biophysical analysis of the proteins, protein folding, the structure of protein complexes, interactions of proteins with nucleic acids, the manipulation of protein function and for neurodegenerative disorders.
