Virus LMU CENS

Dr. Martin Sikor

Research Interests

I am interested in the application of various single molecule fluorescence techniques to study protein folding and the role of molecular chaperones. More specifically, I have used spFRET experiments to study the conformational dynamics of the major mitochondrial Heat Shock Protein 70. To follow the dynamics on different timescales, I have performed spFRET burst analysis measurements using multiparameter detection and pulsed interleaved excitation, as well as spFRET TIRF experiments. Additionally, I am interested in the role of the chaperonin GroEL in protein folding.
