The Faculty for Chemistry and Pharmacy und the Faculty for Biology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich offer an advanced program of study which grants, upon successful completion, the degree of Master of Science. Admission to these programs requires a bachelor of science in either chemistry and biochemistry, biology and biochemistry or biochemistry.
Students in the master's program acquire advanced specialized knowledge in their field which enables them to conduct independent research in chemistry and related applications and embark on multidisciplinary careers.
Students can enter the master's program in chemistry either in the summer or the winter semester. The standard length of study is four semesters during which 120 ECTS (credits) must be earned. Courses are held predominantly in German.
The program consists of:
courses (53 credit points) in two major fields (from among inorganic [AC], organic [OC], physical [PC] / theoretical chemistry [TC]) and one minor field
the oral part of the master's exam (37 credit points)
the master's thesis (30 credit points)
